Step 6: Maintain Your Fence

Keep your project looking its best by maintaining it the right way. Learn when and how to maintain your project in this section of the gameplan.

How to maintain a stained fence:

Re-apply stain every 3 to 5 years as necessary.
To re-stain: clear the fence of any dirt and sand down any damaged areas. Next, clean the fence with appropriate cleaning solution. After the cleaning solution dries, you will have to rinse it off and let it dry (again). Then you will be able to stain your fence with the stain of your choice. Always read and follow the stain manufacturers’ instructions.
